Missoula County supports House Bill 575 - Generally revise 9-1-1 laws, before the House on second reading this afternoon. HB 575 will assist in redistributing some of the stranded 911 funds that occur because larger wireless providers opt out of participating in wireless cost recovery. This redistribution means that smaller cellular providers will have access to greater resources to help them expand their offerings while assisting in funding needed for 911 upgrades at local public safety answering points, e.g., 911 centers. This bill uses already existing statutory language designed to insure that even smaller areas receive improved funding. Please support HB 575.
