HB 206

LC1064
Kelly Flynn
Increase justice court filing fees

  1. Representative Gursky,

Missoula County supports House Bill 206 - Increase justice court filing fees, before House Judiciary on Monday. Justice Court has not seen an increase in this fee since 1989 and this bill will help mitigate some of the inflationary costs associated with civil actions. The City of Missoula's Municipal Court charges a filing fee of $135, and this cost difference means that the great majority of civil cases are filed in Justice Court. This bill will help narrow that disparity which may more evenly spread the civil caseload. Please support HB 206.

    Respectfully,

Dale Bickell on behalf of the Missoula County Commissioners

  2. Representative Coffin,

Missoula County supports House Bill 206 - Increase justice court filing fees, before the House on 2nd reading this afternoon, and thanks Representatives Hill and Gursky for their support in committee. Justice court has not seen an increase in these fees since 1989 and the filing fees do not currently cover the operational costs of the court. HB 206 would decrease the tax payer subsidy currently required to maintain justice court operations. Please support HB 206.

    Respectfully,
Dale Bickell on behalf of the Missoula County Commissioners
